Mental Health First Aid Course (MHFA) for Individuals and Work Places.

St. John Ambulance is proud to deliver the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s highly successful Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course to workplaces and individuals.

MHFA will help participants recognize and understand the symptoms of mental health problems (including those related to substance abuse), provide help to prevent the mental health problem from developing into a more serious state, promote the recovery of good mental health by accommodating employees in distress or recovering from a crisis, increase productivity and reduce absenteeism. 

The curriculum is divided into four sections: Mental Health Problems including Substance-Related Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety & Trauma-Related Disorders, Psychotic Disorders. Crisis First Aid Skills will be learned for substance overdose, suicidal behaviour, panic attack, acute stress reaction, and psychotic episode.
